Cryosurgery
Non-invasive surgery to freeze and kill pet skin disorders.
We’re proud to offer cryosurgery for our patients. Cryosurgery is a relatively painless surgical procedure that uses extremely cold temperatures to remove or destroy small growths on the skin. This same procedure is used on people.
How does cryosurgery work?
Cryosurgery is a cutting-edge procedure that uses liquid nitrogen cooled to -127°F to freeze skin masses and unwanted tissue. We carry out the surgery using a cryoprobe that targets the affected area right down to the millimeter. The nitrogen’s freezing temperature numbs the nerve endings and ruptures the skin cells, eventually causing the mass to fall away.
A safe and non-invasive alternative to traditional surgery when applicable, cryosurgery is used to treat a variety of skin conditions including:
- Cysts
- Lesions
- Masses
- Warts
- Various skin disorders
When compared to traditional surgery, cryosurgery is cost-effective, requires fewer follow up appointments, and typically involves a much shorter recovery period.
