Willa Schaeffer, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Willa Schaeffer's practice of veterinary medicine is rooted in compassionate care. Raised on a family farm, her interest in the field began early. After graduating from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Science, she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2010. Her career includes an internship and residency at the University of Missouri, where she also became a clinical instructor, earning a Master of Public Health and Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. Since then, she has worked in reproductive techniques, rural mixed animal practices, and a small animal practice before joining Barry Road Animal Hospital in 2026.

Professionally, Dr. Schaeffer is dedicated to maintaining quality of life for all patients, from newborns to those in palliative care. She practices integrative medicine, combining conventional treatments with alternative therapies such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food medicine.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Schaeffer enjoys spending time with her daughter and bloodhound, Artoo. Her hobbies include weaving, leatherworking, and cooking.
